Are You Ready? by DeGarmo & Key

Even though this song is from a previous album, this is the album that I know it from. I've said before I'm not a huge fan of live albums and that holds true even with this one. Most of the songs on it I prefer the studio version but this song is one of the few that I like the live version. I didn't even know this was a cover until I researched the song for this post.

Are you ready to sit by His throne?
Are you ready not to be alone?
Someone's coming to take you home
If you're ready, He will carry you home

Are you ready?
Are you ready?

Jesus Christ is coming, we don't know just when
I know we'll be ready when He comes back again

Are you ready to sit by His throne?
Are you ready not to be alone?
Someone's coming to take you home
If you're ready, He will carry you home

Are you ready?
Are you ready?

Rumors of war everywhere; perhaps you wonder why
Now don't you worry, a new day's dawning
We'll catch the Son, and away we'll fly

Are you ready to sit by His throne?
Are you ready not to be alone?
Someone's coming, take you home
If you're ready, He will carry you home

Are you ready?
(Are you ready?)
Are you ready?
(Oh, we're ready)
Are you ready?
(Are you ready?)
Are you ready?

Are you ready to sit by His throne?
Are you ready not to be alone?
Someone's coming to take you home
If you're ready, He will carry you home

Are you ready to sit by His throne?
Are you ready not to be alone?
Someone's coming, take you home
If you're ready, He will carry you home

City Lights by Tim McGraw

I know Tim McGraw and some of his songs but I didn't even recognize this one by title. Once I started listening to it, it came back to me but I haven't heard it a lot.

She was like a brand new song on an old guitar
Supernova in a mason jar
Every boy in town wanted to show her around
As a dirt road, fence row, kudzu king
Beating along this American dream
Wrecked out the truck when she showed up
She had a fire inside her faraway eyes
And I knew just where to take her that night

And we got high on top of that ridge
We could see for miles, past the corn and the cotton and the river bridge
When the sun went down, there she was
Shinning like a big old sky full of diamond dust
I'm a cigarette burnin' slow on a summer night
She's city lights

She's like a broken heart you can't wait to have
A shooting star that falls too fast
Try holding on, it's already gone
I searched that radio low and high
Tryin' to find a song to make a memory by
And I did alright, for a small town guy
But even in my arms I knew
I'd never shine as bright as her city lights do

We got high on top of that ridge
We could see for miles, past the corn and the cotton and the river bridge
When the sun went down, there she was
Shinning like a big old sky full of diamond dust
I'm a cigarette burnin' slow on a summer night
She's city lights

We got high on top of that ridge
We could see for miles, past the corn and the cotton and the river bridge
And when the sun went down, there she was
Shinning like a big old sky full of diamond dust
I'm a cigarette burnin' slow on a summer night
She's city lights
She's city lights

She's my city lights, city lights
She's my city lights, city lights
She's my city lights, city lights
She's my city lights, city lights

Emily by Michael W. Smith

This is originally on the live album which I'm usually not a fan of but it was the only album that it was on for a few years before releasing it on a studio album so I got used to this version. In case you don't know, I don't generally like live albums.

Caught
In an endless time
Waiting for a sign
To show you where to go
Lost
In a silent stare
Looking Anywhere
For answers you don't know

On the wire
Balancing your dreams
Hoping ends will meet their means
But you feel alone
Uninspired
Well does it help you to
Know that I believe in you
You're an angel waiting for wings
Emily

You
Going through this stage
It's a restless age
Young and insecure
Still
There are doubts to fade
Moments to be made
And one of them is yours

On the wire
Balancing your dreams
Hoping ends will meet their means
But you feel alone
Uninspired
Well does it help you to
Know that I believe in you
You're an angel waiting for wings
Emily

No Diggity by Blackstreet & Dr. Dre

This is the first and I think the only Blackstreet song I have. I think I know one other of theirs but I can't think what it is. This is the 2nd song I have with Dr. Dre (both are guest rappers), I'd have more of his if he would release more of his albums on Spotify.

You know what
I like the playettes
No diggity, no doubt, uh
Play on playette
Play on playette
Yo Dre, drop the verse

[Dr. Dre:]
It's going down, fade to Blackstreet
The homies got RB, collab' creations
Bump like Acne, no doubt
I put it down, never slouch
As long as my credit can vouch
A dog couldn't catch me straight up
Tell me who can stop when Dre making moves
Attracting honeys like a magnet
Giving 'em eargasms with my mellow accent
Still moving this flavour
With the homies Blackstreet and Teddy
The original rump shakers

Shorty get down, good Lord
Baby got 'em open all over town
Strictly biz, you don't play around
Cover much ground, got game by the pound
Getting paid is a forte
Each and every day, true player way
I can't get her out of my mind
(Well)
I think about the girl all the time (well, well)

East side to the west side
Pushing phat rides, it's no surprise
She got tricks in the stash
Stacking up the cash
Fast when it comes to the gas
By no means average
She's on when she's got to have it
Baby, you're a perfect ten, I wanna get in
Can I get down, so I can win

[Chorus x3:]
I like the way you work it
No diggity, I got to bag it up, bag it up

She's got class and style
Street knowledge by the pound,
Baby never act wild
Very low key on the profile
Catching feelings is a no,
Let me tell you how it goes
Herb's the word, spin's the verb
Lovers it curves so freak what you heard
Rollin' with the phatness
You don't even know what the half is
You got to pay to play
Just for shorty, bang-bang, to look your way
I like the way you work it
Trumped tight, all day, every day
You're blowing my mind, maybe in time
Baby, I can get you in my ride

[Chorus x4]

[Bridge:]
Hey yo, hey yo, hey yo, hey yo
Hey yo, that girl looks good
Hey yo, hey yo, hey yo, hey yo
Play on, play on playette
Hey yo, hey yo, hey yo, hey yo
You're my kind of girl, no diggity
Hey yo, hey yo, hey yo, hey yo
Hey

[Queen Pen:]
Cause that's my peeps and we rolls deep
Flying first class from New York City to Blackstreet
What you know about me, not a motherfucking thing
Cartier wooded frames sported by my shortie
As for me, icy gleaming pinky diamond ring
We be's the baddest clique up on the scene
Ain't you getting bored with these fake ass broads
I shows and proves, no doubt, I predicted so
Please excuse, if I come across rude
That's just me
And that's how a playette's got to be
Stay kicking game with a capital G
Ask the peoples on my block, I'm as real as can be
Word is born, faking moves never been my thing
So, Teddy, pass the word to your nigga Chauncy
I'll be sending a call, let's say around 3: 30
Queen Pen and Blackstreet, it's no diggity

[Chorus x4]

[Bridge]

Yeah, Come on
Jackie in full effect
Lisa in full effect
Nicky in full effect
Tomeka in full effect
Ladies in full effect
Ain't nothing goin' on but the rent
Yeah play on playette
Play on play on
Cause I like it
No diggity, no doubt, yeah
Blackstreet productions
We out, we out right
We out, we out

Sunshine & Whiskey by Frankie Ballard

I like this song but I couldn't have even told you who sang it. I'm pretty sure this is the only Frankie Ballard song I have but you never know when I'll add more. I have added some in the last couple of weeks and my playlist is over 3000 songs now.

Every time you kiss me it's like sunshine and whiskey

Chilling on a beach with my sweet Georgia peach.
Not a care in the world, just trying to beat the heat.
Body like an hourglass, sand on her feet.
Can't help but stare cause I got the best seat.
Just when I thought it couldn't get any hotter you slid on in,
Said, "I'm a little hot and bothered, if you know what I mean.
Let's crank it up to a hundred degrees." Alright

You hit me like fire, shot me like a bullet.
Burned me up and down, no way to cool it.
Every time you kiss me it's like sunshine and whiskey.
Like a bottle of Jack straight to the head.
One shot, two shot, copper tone red.
Every time you kiss me it's like sunshine and whiskey.

Slow driving south with the drop top down,
Hair in the wind, Tom Petty up loud.
You gave me that look, you licked them lips.
I said, "Hang on baby, better pull over for this."
I don't wanna get DWK, driving while kissing they'll put you away.

Every time you kiss me it's like sunshine and whiskey. [x2]

Well, you hit me like fire, shot me like a bullet
Burn me up and down, no where to cool it

Every time you kiss me it's like sunshine and whiskey.

You hit me like fire, shot me like a bullet.
Burned me up and down, no way to cool it.
But every time you kiss me it's like sunshine and whiskey.
It's like a bottle of Jack straight to the head.
One shot, two shot, copper tone red.
Every time you kiss me it's like sunshine and whiskey.

Every time you kiss me it's like sunshine and whiskey. [x4]

Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash

Sorry, had a late evening last night and never got online to post my last song so will do it this morning. I don't know much of Johnny Cash as far as his music, but I do have a few of his songs on here. This one, obviously, being the more famous one.

Love is a burning thing
And it makes a fiery ring.
Bound by wild desire
I fell into a ring of fire.

[2x]
I fell into a burning ring of fire,
I went down, down, down and the flames went higher
And it burns, burns, burns,
The ring of fire, the ring of fire.

The taste of love is sweet
When hearts like ours meet.
I fell for you like a child,
Oh, but the fire went wild.

I fell into a burning ring of fire,
I went down, down, down and the flames went higher
And it burns, burns, burns,
The ring of fire, the ring of fire.

I fell into a burning ring of fire,
I went down, down, down as the flames went higher
And it burns, burns, burns,
The ring of fire, the ring of fire.

And it burns, burns, burns,
The ring of fire, the ring of fire,
The ring of fire, the ring of fire.

Once In A Lifetime by Keith Urban

This is one of the 2 songs by Keith that my wife put on Our CD and those are the 2 that introduced me to him. Now I have at least double digit songs on here. This is his 4th album of his introduced here.

...Mm hmm

I can see it in your eyes
And feel it in your touch
I know that you're scared
But you've never been this loved (mm hmm)

It's a long shot, baby,
I know it's true.
But if anyone can make it,
I'm bettin' on me and you. (mm hmm)

Just keep on moving into me,
I know you're gonna see
The best is yet to come

And don't fear it now,
We're going all the way.
That sun is shining on a brand new day.
It's a long way down
And it's a leap of faith
But we're never giving up
Cuz i know we've got a once in a lifetime love

Everybody's looking
For what we've found
Some wait their whole life
And it never comes around. (uu huhh)

So don't hold back now.
Just let go of all you've ever known
You can put your hand in mine.

And don't fear it now,
We're going all the way.
That sun is shining on a brand new day.
It's a long way down
And it's a leap of faith
But we're never giving up
Cuz i know we've got a once in a lifetime love

I close my eyes and i see you standing right there
Sayin 'i do' and they're throwing the rice in our hair.
Well the first one's born
And a brother comes along,
And he's got your smile.
I've been looking back on the life we had
I'm still by your side.

So don't fear it now,
We're going all the way.
That sun is shining on a brand new day.
It's a long way down
And it's a leap of faith
But I'm never givin up
Cuz i know we've got a once in a lifetime love.

Goodbye For Now by POD

I didn't add this song to my favorites initially when I was listening to it, but the more it keeps running through my head, I'm debating on it. I do like it, but I'm not sure it's even my favorite POD song.

I can still see the light
at the end of the tunnel shine
through the dark times
even when I lose my mind

But it feels like no one
in the world is listening
and I can't ever seem
to make the right decisions

I walk around in the same haze
I'm still caught in my same ways
I'm losing time in these strange days
but somehow I always know
the right things to say

I don't know what time it is
or whose the one to blame for this
Do what I believe what I can't see
And how do you know
which way the wind blows

Cause I can feel it all around
I'm lost between the sound
And just when I think
I know, there she goes

[Chorus]
Goodbye for now
Goodbye for now
So long

Goodbye for now (I'm not the type to say I told you so)
Goodbye for now
So long (I think the hardest part of holding on is lettin go)

When will we sing
A new song
A new song

We’re still smilin as the day goes by
and how come nobody
ever knows the reasons why
Burry you deep so far
you can't see

If you're like me
who wears a broken
heart on your sleeve

Pains is troubles that
you know so well
Either time don't
It can't or you just won't tell

I'm not the type to say
I told you so
I think the hardest part
of holding on is lettin it go

I don't know what time it is
or whose the one to blame for this
Do what I believe what I can't see
And how do you know
which way the wind blows

Cause I can feel it all around
I'm lost between the sound
And just when I think I know
there she goes

Goodbye for now
Goodbye for now
So long

Goodbye for now (I'm not the type to say I told you so)
Goodbye for now
So long (I think the hardest part of holdin on is lettin it go)

[Repeat]
When will we sing
A new song
A new song

And you can sing until
theres no song left (song left)
And I can scream until
the world goes deaf (goes deaf)

For every other word
left unsaid you should
have took the time to
read the sign and
see what it meant

In some ways everybody
feels alone so if the
burden is mine then
I can carry my own

If joy really comes
in the morning time
then I'm gunna sit back
and wait until the
next sun rise

Goodbye for now
Goodbye for now
So long

Goodbye for now (I'm no the type to say I told you so)
Goodbye for now
So long (I think the hardest part of holdin on is lettin it go)

[Repeat 2x]
When will we sing
A new song
A new song

Sex on Fire by Kings of Leon

I was introduced to Kings of Leon by my wife who put one of their songs on the CD she made me when we were dating. I don't know where I heard this for sure but I want to say on the radio in Virginia during one of my trips to visit her. It was added to my Favorites playlist.

Lay where you're laying
Don't make a sound
I know they're watching
They're watching

All the commotion
the kiddie like play
Has people talking
Talking

You
Your sex is on fire

The dark of the alley
The break of the day
Head while I'm driving
I'm driving

Soft lips are open
Them knuckles are pale
Feels like you're dying
You're dying

You
Your sex is on fire
Consumed
With what's just transpired

Hot as a fever
Rattling bones
I could just taste it
Taste it

But it's not forever
But it's just tonight
Oh we're still the greatest
The greatest
The greatest

You
your sex is on fire

You
Your sex is on fire

Consumed
With what's just transpired

And You
Your sex is on fire

Consumed
With what's just transpired

Wake Me Up When September Ends by Green Day

This is only the 2nd Green Day song on here but I assure you I have plenty more. I actually have quite a few from this album alone.

Summer has come and passed
The innocent can never last
Wake me up when September ends

Like my father's come to pass
Seven years has gone so fast
Wake me up when September ends

Here comes the rain again
Falling from the stars
Drenched in my pain again
Becoming who we are

As my memory rests
But never forgets what I lost
Wake me up when September ends

Summer has come and passed
The innocent can never last
Wake me up when September ends

Ring out the bells again
Like we did when spring began
Wake me up when September ends

Here comes the rain again
Falling from the stars
Drenched in my pain again
Becoming who we are

As my memory rests
But never forgets what I lost
Wake me up when September ends

Summer has come and passed
The innocent can never last
Wake me up when September ends

Like my father's come to pass
Twenty years has gone so fast
Wake me up when September ends
Wake me up when September ends
Wake me up when September ends

Who Can It Be Now? by Men At Work

I didn't realize that Men at Work were an Australian band until I was researching this song.

Who can it be knocking at my door?
Go away, don't come 'round here no more
Can't you see that it's late at night?
I'm very tired and I'm not feeling right
All I wish is to be alone
Stay away, don't you invade my home
Best off if you hang outside
Don't come in, I'll only run and hide

Who can it be now?
Who can it be now?
Who can it be now?
Who can it be now?

Who can it be knocking at my door?
Make no sound, tip-toe across the floor
If he hears, he'll knock all day
I'll be trapped and here I'll have to stay
I've done no harm, I keep to myself
There's nothing wrong with my state of mental health
I like it here with my childhood friend
Here they come, those feelings again

Who can it be now?
Who can it be now?
Who can it be now?
Who can it be now?

Is it the men come to take me away?
Why do they follow me?
It's not the future that I can see
It's just my fantasy
Yeah

Oh, who can it be now?
Who can it be now?
Who can it be now?
Who can it be now?

Never Gonna Let You Down by Colbie Caillat

This is the 2nd song from this album. I really like her stuff and wish I could find more artist like her but either there are none, or I just can't get into anybody else but her.

Low
When you're feeling low
And you just don't know where to run to
Broke
If your heart's been broke
And you feel like you're all alone
If you need something to believe in
If you're looking for a light to guide you home
Just look inside
You're light a shining brighter than you know
You should know
I'm never gonna let you down
I'm always gonna build you up
And when you're feeling lost
I will always find you love
I'm never gonna walk away
I'm always gonna have your back
And if nothing else you can always count on that
When you need me
I promise I will never let you down

Laugh
I will make you laugh
If you ever feel like crying
Close
I will hold you close
You won't be alone anymore
If you need someone to believe in
If you're reaching for a hand to guide you home
Just take my hand and I won't let you go
I hope you know

I'm never gonna let you down
I'm always gonna build you up
And when you're feeling lost
I will always find you love
I'm never gonna walk away
I'm always gonna have your back
And if nothing else you can always count on that
When you need me
I promise I will never let you down

Ain't never gonna let you down

If you need something to believe in
If you feel you've reached the end of the road
Don't be afraid, I'll always guide you home
You should know

I'm never gonna let you down
I'm always gonna build you up
And when you're feeling lost
I will always find you love
I'm never gonna walk away
I'm always gonna have your back
And if nothing else you can always count on that
When you need me
I promise I will never let you down

Play It Again by Luke Bryan

I liked the story in this song the first time I heard it. I'm not sure why, it doesn't exactly hit home with me but I think it reminds me of back when you wanted to hear a song and you had to wait until it came on the radio. I remember hoping it would be on the hot 9 at 9 so I would get a chance to listen to it.

She was sittin' all alone over on the tailgate
Tan legs swingin' by a Georgia plate
I was lookin' for her boyfriend,
Thinkin', "No way she ain't got one."
Soon as I sat down I was fallin' in love
Tryin' to pour a little sugar in her Dixie cup
Talkin' over the speakers in the back of that truck
She jumped up and cut me off

She was like, "Oh, my God, this is my song.
I've been listenin' to the radio all night long.
Sittin' 'round, waitin' for it to come on and here it is."
She was like, "Come here boy, I wanna dance."
'Fore I said a word she was takin' my hand
Spinnin' me around 'til it faded out
And she gave me a kiss
And she said, "Play it again, play it again, play it again."
And I said, "Play it again, play it again, play it again."

I'd gave that DJ my last dime
If he would have played it just one more time
But a little while later we were sittin' in the drive in my truck
Before I walked her to the door
I was scannin' like a fool AM, FM, XM, too
But I stopped real quick when I heard that groove
Man, you should have seen her light up

She was like, "Oh, my God, this is my song.
We've been listenin' to the radio all night long.
I can't believe that it came back on, but here it is."
She was like, "Come here boy, I wanna dance."
'Fore I said a word she was takin' my hand
Spinnin' in the headlights she gave me a goodnight kiss
And I said, "Play it again, play it again, play it again."
And she said, "Play it again, play it again, play it again."

The next Friday night
We were sittin' out under the stars
You should have seen her smile
When I broke out my guitar

She was like, "Oh my God, this is my song.
I've been listenin' to the radio all night long.
Sittin' 'round, waitin' for it to come on and here it is."
She was like, "Come here boy, I wanna dance."
'Fore I said a word she was takin' my hand
Spinnin' in the headlights she gave me a goodnight kiss
And she said, "Play it again, play it again, play it again."
And I said, "Play it again, play it again, play it again."

Yeah, play it again, play it again, play it again
Somebody, play it again, play it again, play it again

Already Gone by Eagles

This is the 2nd Eagles song in 3 days, they've been popping up quite a bit on random which I certainly won't complain about as they are my favorite group from that era.

Well, I heard some people talkin' just the other day
And they said you were gonna put me on a shelf
But let me tell you I got some news for you
And you'll soon find out it's true
And then you'll have to eat your lunch all by yourself
'Cause I'm already gone
And I'm feelin' strong
I will sing this vict'ry song, woo, hoo, hoo, woo, hoo, hoo

The letter that you wrote me made me stop and wonder why
But I guess you felt like you had to set things right
Just remember this, my girl, when you look up in the sky
You can see the stars and still not see the light (that's right)

And I'm already gone
And I'm feelin' strong
I will sing this vict'ry song, woo, hoo,hoo,woo, hoo,hoo

Well I know it wasn't you who held me down
Heaven knows it wasn't you who set me free
So often times it happens that we live our lives in chains
And we never even know we have the key

But me, I'm already gone
And I'm feelin' strong
I will sing this vict'ry song
'Cause I'm already gone
Yes, I'm already gone
And I'm feelin' strong
I will sing this vict'ry song
'Cause I'm already gone
Yes, I'm already gone
Already gone
All right, nighty-night

Thick As Thieves by Shinedown

I thought I already had some Shinedown on here but apparently not. You'll definitely see more of their music on here.

Evidently we can't work it out
I guess that courage ain't allowed
Evidently you're not in the mood
And everything I say just bothers you

You built this fortress
I stumble towards it

Evidently you look furious
Walls up and I know you're serious
Evidently I'm not always there
But you left and I looked everywhere

You built this fortress
I stumble towards it
I stumble towards it

And guilty I may be
But don't give up on me
In the wake of the Odyssey
We will still be thick as thieves
You and me still thick as thieves

Evidently this is my mistake
Lost touch but I think I've been replaced
Evidently something's gotta give
Play it safe, but I know you're worth the risk

You built this fortress
I stumble towards it
I stumble towards it

And guilty I may be
But don't give up on me
In the wake of the Odyssey
We will still be thick as thieves
You and me still thick as thieves

I got an escape if you want it
We can leave first thing in the morning
We'll be back before you know it
We're as thick as thieves

And guilty I may be
But don't give up on me
In the wake of the Odyssey
We will still be thick as thieves
You and me still thick as thieves

And I guilty I may be guilty I may be
But don't give up on me don't you give up on me
In the wake of the Odyssey you and me
We will still be thick as thieves

Peaceful Easy Feeling by Eagles

Love the Eagles, one of my favorite bands so you know I'm going to have a bunch of their songs on here. This is the 3rd song from the 3rd different album so far.

I like the way your sparkling earrings lay,
Against your skin, it's so brown.
And I wanna sleep with you in the desert tonight
With a billion stars all around.

'Cause I got a peaceful easy feeling,
And I know you won't let me down
'cause I'm already standing on the ground.

And I found out a long time ago
What a woman can do to your soul.
Oh, but she can't take you anyway,
You don't already know how to go.

And I got a peaceful easy feeling,
And I know you won't let me down
'cause I'm already standing on the ground.

I get this feeling I may know you as a lover and a friend.
But this voice keeps whispering in my other ear,
Tells me I may never see you again.

'cause I get a peaceful easy feeling
And I know you won't let me down
'cause I'm already standing...
I'm already standing...
Yes, I'm already standing on the ground
Oh, oh
