Follow You be Geoff Moore & the Distance

This is the second song I've posted here from this album, which isn't surprising since it's a great album.

This album is listed on the Albums I've Owned page.

And when the daylight dies
You'll still be there when I close my eyes
And I'll follow, follow You
I walk into the midnight blue
You light a torch and it cuts right through
And I'll follow, follow You
I see You on the boulevard like a movie star on the cover
And my heart beats like a drummer

[Chorus]

If I lose my way tonight
I know it's gonna be alright
'Cause I'll follow, follow You
I'll follow You
If I ever fall behind
You'll be right there to show me a sign
I can follow, follow You
If you go away that's where I'll be
A world without You is no place, no place for me
I'm gonna follow You
When I think of You and the things You say
What You choose to keep and what You throw away
I hear Your voice and I won't be afraid

[Chorus]

They say that I'm a fool to put my trust in You
But don't you know my faith is all I have
I think of You and the things You say
What You choose to keep and what You throw away
I hear Your voice and I am not afraid

Repeat [Chorus]

Jump by Van Halen

I knew a couple of Van Halen songs back in the early 90's and a guy I worked with gave me a 120 minute cassette filled with their songs and I ended up becoming a bigger fan. Obviously, I already knew this song as it was one of their bigger hits but that cassette introduced me to a lot that I didn't know but you'll probably see here, eventually.

I get up, and nothing gets me down.
You got it tough. I've seen the toughest all around.
And I know, baby, just how you feel.
You've got to roll with the punches to get to what's real
Oh can't you see me standing here,
I've got my back against the record machine
I ain't the worst that you've seen.
Oh can't you see what I mean?
Might as well jump. Jump!
Might as well jump.
Go ahead, jump. Jump!
Go ahead, jump.
Aaa-ohh Hey you! Who said that?
Baby how you been?
You say you don't know, you won't know until you begin.
Well can't you see me standing here,
I've got my back against the record machine
I ain't the worst that you've seen.
Oh can't you see what I mean?
Might as well jump. Jump!
Go ahead, jump.
Might as well jump. Jump!
Go ahead, jump.

[Guitar solo]

[Keyboard solo]

Might as well jump. Jump!
Go ahead, jump.
Get it and jump. Jump!
Go ahead, jump.

Back to the Street by Petra

Once again, I forgot to post yesterday. This time is was because we actually left the house though.

The second Petra song posted here and it's from the same album as the first. From a group that I've owned probably close to 15 different albums and they have over 40 songs on my playlist.

This album is listed on the Albums I've Owned page.
This artist is listed on the Albums I've Owned page.

It's so easy to lose the burden - Take our eyes off the fields
Settle into apathy and forget what the harvest yields
It's so easy to think we're finished with our labor for awhile
Kick back and let somebody else go the extra mile

Jesus said Go (Go!) into all the world
Make disciples of all men
We gotta Go (Go!) to the highways and compel them to come in
As long as there's a tearful eye that cries alone at night
As long as there's a weary soul ready to end the fight
As long as there's an aching heart that still has strength to beat
We gotta take this message back to the street
We gotta take this message back to the street

It's so easy to stay untangled in everyone else's life
Don't get involved with strangers - don't get involved with strife
It's so easy to save your own life - resting on what you've done
But Jesus would leave the ninety nine to try to save the one

It's not easy to beat the system
It's not easy to face the heat
But somebody's got to take this message
Back to the street

To Be With You by Mr. Big

I'm not sure I've even heard this band name but I definitely know the song. It is a great ballad love song from the early 90's. We've all been there, in love with someone who is with someone else.

Hold on little girl
Show me what he's done to you
Stand up little girl
A broken heart can't be that bad
When it's through, it's through
Fate will twist the both of you
So come on baby come on over
Let me be the one to show you

I'm the one who wants to be with you
Deep inside I hope you feel it too
Waited on a line of greens and blues
Just to be the next to be with you

Build up your confidence
So you can be on top for once
wake up who cares about
Little boys that talk too much
I seen it all go down
Your game of love was all rained out
So come on baby, come on over
Let me be the one to hold you

I'm the one who wants to be with you
Deep inside I hope you feel it too
Waited on a line of greens and blues
Just to be the next to be with you

Why be alone when we can be together baby
You can make my life worthwhile
I can make you start to smile

When it's through, it's through
Fate will twist the both of you
So come on baby come on over
Let me be the one to show you

I'm the one who wants to be with you
Deep inside I hope you feel it too
Waited on a line of greens and blues
Just to be the next to be with you

I'm the one who wants to be with you
Deep inside I hope you feel it too
Waited on a line of greens and blues
Just to be the next to be with you

Just to be the next to be with you

Livin' on a Prayer by Bon Jovi

Oops! This was supposed to go out yesterday but I forgot that I hadn't posted it. It makes for a twofer Thursday though as you'll get another post later today.

A Bon Jovi classic, it's not my favorite by them but it's probably second. I'd have to have their track list in front of me but I know what my favorite is. This was an awesome album but oddly enough, I never owned it. Be sure to watch the video, just for the hair alone.

Once upon a time not so long ago

Tommy used to work on the docks
Union's been on strike
He's down on his luck...
It's tough, so tough

Gina works the diner all day
Working for her man,
She brings home her pay
For love, for love

She says, "We've gotta hold on to what we've got.
It doesn't make a difference if we make it or not.
We've got each other and that's a lot.
For love we'll give it a shot."

[Chorus:]
Whoa, we're half way there
Whoa, livin' on a prayer
Take my hand and we'll make it - I swear
Whoa, livin' on a prayer

Tommy's got his six string in hock
Now he's holding in
What he used to make it talk
So tough, it's tough

Gina dreams of running away
When she cries in the night
Tommy whispers,
"Baby, it's okay, someday...

...We've gotta hold on to what we've got.
It doesn't make a difference if we make it or not.
We've got each other and that's a lot.
For love we'll give it a shot."

[Chorus]

Livin' on a prayer

We've gotta hold on ready or not
You live for the fight when it's all that you've got

[Chorus 2x and fading]

Santa Monica by Theory of a Deadman

Great song, but a sad song. This is kind of the modern rock ballad as Theory of a Deadman is usually more of a rock/alternative group but they hit it with this song.

She fills my bed with gasoline
You think I wouldn't notice
Her mind's made up
The love is gone
I think someone's trying to show us a sign
That even if we thought it would last
The moment would pass
My bones will break and my heart would give
Oh, it hurts to live

And I remember the day when you left for Santa Monica
You left me to remain with all your excuses for everything
And I remember the time when you left for Santa Monica
And I remember the day you told me it's over

It hurts to breathe
Well every time that you're not next to me
Her mind's made up
The girl is gone
And now I'm forced to see
I think I'm on my way
Oh, it hurts to live today
Oh and she says "Don't you wish you were dead like me?"

And I remember the day when you left for Santa Monica
You left me to remain with all your excuses for everything
And I remember the time when you left for Santa Monica
And I remember the day you told me it's over

I wanted more than this
I needed more than this
I deserve more than this
But it just won't stop
It just won't go away

I needed more than this
I wanted more than this
I asked for more than this
But it just won't stop
It just won't go away

And I remember the day when you left for Santa Monica
You left me to remain with all your excuses for everything
And I remember the time when you left it all behind
And I remember the day you told me it's over

And I remember the day when you left for Santa Monica
You left me to remain with all your excuses for everything
And I remember the time when you left for Santa Monica
Yeah, I remember the day you told me it's over

The Lion Sleeps Tonight by the Tokens

Hearing this song makes me think of my father because after he passed, I used to listen to his old records and this song was one of them.

(A-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh)
(A-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh)

In the jungle, the mighty jungle
The lion sleeps tonight
In the jungle the quiet jungle
The lion sleeps tonight

Near the village the peaceful village
The lion sleeps tonight
Near the village the quiet village
The lion sleeps tonight

Hush my darling don't fear my darling
The lion sleeps tonight
Hush my darling don't fear my darling
The lion sleeps tonight

Sweet Home Alabama by Lynyrd Skynyrd

The sad thing is that when I hear this song, it makes me think of the movie Con-Air because they are partying to it after they take over the airplane.

Big wheels keep on turning
Carry me home to see my kin
Singing songs about the Southland
I miss Alabamy once again
And I think its a sin, yes

Well I heard mister Young sing about her
Well, I heard ole Neil put her down
Well, I hope Neil Young will remember
A Southern man don't need him around anyhow

Sweet home Alabama
Where the skies are so blue
Sweet Home Alabama
Lord, I'm coming home to you

In Birmingham they love the gov' nor (boo, boo, boo)
Now we all did what we could do
Now Watergate does not bother me
Does your conscience bother you?
Tell the truth

Sweet home Alabama
Where the skies are so blue
Sweet Home Alabama
Lord, I'm coming home to you
Here I come Alabama

Now Muscle Shoals has got the Swampers
And they've been known to pick a song or two
Lord they get me off so much
They pick me up when I'm feeling blue
Now how about you?

Sweet home Alabama
Where the skies are so blue
Sweet Home Alabama
Lord, I'm coming home to you

Sweet home Alabama
Oh sweet home baby
Where the skies are so blue
And the guv'nor's true
Sweet Home Alabama
Lordy
Lord, I'm coming home to you
Yea, yea Montgomery's got the answer

Superbeast by Rob Zombie

A lot of Rob Zombies music sound similar, good thing I like his music. Personally, I always liked the name of the album, Hellbilly Deluxe.

Shriek the lips
Across ragged tongue,
Convulsing together.Sing
violently, Move the jaw
Cry aloud. Bound up the Dead
Triumphantly

The ragged they come and
The ragged they kill!
You pray so hard on bloody knees.
The ragged they come and
The ragged they kill!
Down in the cool air I can see.

Hey, Yeah - I'm the one that you wanted
Hey, Yeah - I'm your Superbeast
Hey, Yeah - I'm the one that you wanted
Hey, Yeah - I'm your Superbeast

Stir the limbs across the wrist,
Full possession of memory.
Bury me as a dog,
Icy hands surrounding me.

The ragged they come and
The ragged they kill!
You pray so hard on bloody knees.
The ragged they come and
The ragged they kill!
Down in the cool air I can see.

Hey, Yeah - I'm the one that you wanted
Hey, Yeah - I'm your Superbeast
Hey, Yeah - I'm the one that you wanted
Hey, Yeah - I'm your Superbeast

Shriek the lips
Across ragged tongue,
Convulsing together.Sing
violently, Move the jaw
Cry aloud. Bound up the Dead

The ragged they kill!

Eight Days A Week by the Beatles

Another Beatles song, that makes 4 in less than 100 songs which doesn't sound like much but considering I have over 2700 songs on my playlist, it is a lot. Not that I mind, because I do like their music, which is why there is so much of it on my playlist.

Ooh, I need your love, babe
Guess you know it's true
Hope you need my love, babe
Just like I need you

Hold me, love me, hold me, love me
Ain't got nothing but love, babe
Eight days a week.

Love you every day, girl
Always on my mind
One thing I can say, girl
Love you all the time

Hold me, love me, hold me, love me
Ain't got nothing but love, girl
Eight days a week.

Eight days a week
I love you
Eight days a week
Is not enough to show I care

Ooh, I need your love, babe
Guess you know it's true
Hope you need my love, babe
Just like I need you

Hold me, love me, hold me, love me
Ain't got nothing but love, babe
Eight days a week

Eight days a week
I love you
Eight days a week
Is not enough to show I care

Love you every day, girl
Always on my mind
One thing I can say, girl
Love you all the time

Hold me, love me, hold me, love me

Quit Playing Games With My Heart by Backstreet Boys

Yeah, that's right, I have a few boy band songs, don't judge me. Ok, maybe I have more than a few of more than a few different boy bands. It was the 90's and I listened to hip hop/pop so I got to know a bunch of their songs.

Baby, oh

Even in my heart I see
You're not bein' true to me
Deep within my soul I feel
Nothing's like it used to be

Sometimes I wish I could turn back time
Impossible as it may seem
But I wish I could so bad, baby
Quit playin' games with my heart

Quit playin' games with my heart
Before you tear us apart (my heart)
Quit playin' games with my heart
I should've known from the start
You know you got to stop (from my heart)
You're tearing us apart (my heart)
Quit playin' games with my heart

I live my life the way
To keep you comin' back to me
Everything I do is for you
So what is it that you can't see

Sometimes I wish I could turn back time
Impossible as it may seem
But I wish I could so bad, baby
You better quit playin' games with my heart

Quit playin' games with my heart
Before you tear us apart (my heart)
Quit playin' games with my heart
I should've known from the start
You know you got to stop (from my heart)
You're tearing us apart (my heart)
Quit playin' games

Baby, baby the love that we had was so strong
Don't leave me hangin' here forever
Oh baby, baby this is not right
Let's stop this tonight

Baby, (oh) quit playin' games
Baby

Sometimes I wish I could
Turn back time, impossible as it may seem
But I wish I could so bad, baby
Quit playin' games with my heart

Quit playin' games with my heart
Before you tear us apart (my heart)
Quit playin' games with my heart
I should've known from the start
You know you got to stop (from my heart)
You're tearing us apart (my heart)
Quit playin' games with my heart

Quit playin' games with my heart
Baby

Quit playin' games with my heart
With my heart
My heart
With my heart

Refugee by Tom Petty

I do like Tom Petty and I had his greatest hits album at one point. I think his early 90's stuff is what got me interested in them and once I started going through his library, I realized that I already knew a lot of his earlier songs, like this one.

We got somethin', we both know it, we don't talk too much about it
Ain't no real big secret, all the same, somehow we get around it
Listen, it don't really matter to me baby
You believe what you want to believe, you see

You don't have to live like a refugee
(Don't have to live like a refugee)

Somewhere, somehow, somebody must have kicked you around some
Tell me why you want to lay there, revel in your abandon
Honey, it don't make no difference to me baby
Everybody has to fight to be free, you see

[Chorus:]
You don't have to live like a refugee
(Don't have to live like a refugee)
No baby you don't have to live like a refugee
(Don't have to live like a refugee)

Baby we ain't the first
I'm sure a lot of other lovers been burned
Right now it seems real to you, but it's
One of those things you gotta feel to be true

Somewhere, somehow, somebody must have kicked you around some
Who knows maybe you were kidnapped tied up,
Taken away and held for ransom
Honey, it don't make no difference to me, baby
Everybody has to fight to be free, you see

[Chorus x2]

Animal by Def Leppard

Our first song that comes from an album already featured here. I would have guessed that would have happened with one of the Christian songs before an album that I never had. Although, had I been into music in the 80's like I am now, it may have not been such a surprise.

A wild ride, over stony ground
Such a lust for life, the circus comes to town
We are the hungry ones, on a lightning raid
Just like a river runs, like a fire needs flame
I burn for you

I gotta feel it in my blood whoa oh
I need your touch don't need your love whoa oh

And I want and I need
And I lust animal
And I want and I need
And I lust animal

Cry wolf, given mouth to mouth
Like a movin' heartbeat in the witching hour
I'm runnin' with the wind, a shadow in the dust
And like the drivin' rain, yeah, like the restless rust
I never sleep

[Repeat Bridge]

[Repeat Chorus]

Huh!
Ah!
Cry wolf, baby cry tough
Gonna hunt you like an, an, an, an, an, animal
Gonna take your love 'n' run

[guitar solo]

[Repeat Bridge]

[Repeat Chorus]

And I want and I need
And I lust animal
Take me, tame me
Make me your animal
Show me stroke me
Let me be your animal
I want, ooh yeah, animal

Someday by Sugar Ray

I don't have a lot of Sugar Ray but I do believe I have a couple of their songs.

Someday
When my life has passed me by
I'll lay around and wonder why you were always there for me
One way
In the eyes of a passerby
I'll look around for another try
And'll fade away

[Chorus]

Just close your eyes and I'll take you there
This place is warm without a care
We'll take a swim in the deep blue sea
I go to leave as you reach for me
Some say
Better things will come our way
No matter what they try to say you were always there for me
Someway
When the sun begins to shine
I hear a song from another time
And'll fade away
And'll fade away

[Chorus]

So far, so long, so far away
So far, so long, so far away (away, away)
Someday
When my life has passed me by
I'll lay around and wonder why you were always there for me
One way
In the eyes of a passerby
I'll look around for another try
And'll fade away
And'll fade away
And'll fade away
And'll fade away
And'll fade away
And'll fade away
(someday)
And'll fade away

Count on Me by Default

I forgot to post this yesterday, my bad.

A song from back when I only listened to rock. I've got some other Default songs on my playlist but I couldn't tell you how many for sure. I would guess 3 or 4 but it could be more.

I know that life ain't always good to you.
I've seen exactly what it’s put you through
Thrown you around and turned you upside down and so you
You got to thinking there was no way out
You started sinking and it pulled you down
It may be tough you've to get back up
Because you know that life ain't over yet
I'm here for you so don't forget
You can count on me
Cause’ I will carry you till you
Carry on

Anytime you need someone
Somebody strong to lean on
Well you can count on me
To hold you till the healing is done
And every time you fall apart
Well you can hide here in my arms
And you can count on me
To hold you till that feeling is gone

I wonder why nobody's waiting on you
I'd like to be the one to pull you through your darkest times
I'd love to be the light that finds you
I see a silver lining on your cloud
I'll pick you up whenever you fall down
Just take my hand and I will help you stand

Because you know that life ain't over yet
I'm here for you so don't forget
You can count on me
Cause’ I will carry you till you carry on
Anytime you need someone
Somebody strong to lean on
Well you can count on me to hold you till the healing is done
And every time you fall apart you can hide here in my arms
And you can count on me to hold you till that feeling is
Gone so you can live today
Seems so long to yesterday
Keep on counting on me to carry you till you carry on
Carry on

You know that life ain’t over yet
I’m here for you so don’t forget
You can count on me cause I will carry you till you carry on

Anytime you need someone
Somebody strong to lean on
Well you can count on me to hold you till that healing is done
And every time you fall apart
You can hide here in my arms
And you can count on me to hold you till that feeling is gone
Remember life ain’t over yet
I’m here for you so don’t forget
That you can count on me to hold you till that feeling is gone
Remember life ain’t over yet
I’m here for you so don’t forget
That you can count on me to hold you till that feeling is gone

King's Ransom by Petra

Finally! I've been waiting for a Petra song to come on because I have a ton of their stuff on here. Back when I listened to Christian music, they were putting out an album (or 2) every year throughout the 80's decade. I had them all too which would be how so much ended up on my playlists.

This album is listed on the Albums I've Owned page.

This artist is listed on the Albums I've Owned page.

It's such a paradox - it's such a mystery
Why a King would leave His throne to save humanity
They could not have known when they mocked Him in disgrace
They could not have known when they spit upon His face

The Rose of Sharon wore a crown of thorns that day
The carpenter had a nail right through His hand
The Master of the earth became a servant of no worth
And paid a King's ransom for my soul
He paid a King's ransom for my soul

Creator of the earth - Name above all names
Some just stood in unbelief when listening to His claims
They could not have known when they hit Him with their fists
They could not have known when they nailed his feet and wrists

The ransom that He paid was the sacrifice he made
The life of a King in place of me
The shame that He bore for the rich and for the poor
Changed His crown of thorns into glory
