Hearing this song makes me think of my father because after he passed, I used to listen to his old records and this song was one of them.
(A-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh)
(A-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh)
In the jungle, the mighty jungle
The lion sleeps tonight
In the jungle the quiet jungle
The lion sleeps tonight
Near the village the peaceful village
The lion sleeps tonight
Near the village the quiet village
The lion sleeps tonight
Hush my darling don't fear my darling
The lion sleeps tonight
Hush my darling don't fear my darling
The lion sleeps tonight

I first heard this song in the movie Matinee, starring John Goodman. I was about 12, and my musical tastes were at the intersection of hip-hop and grunge. Yet there was something about this song that I really liked, even as a tween. That harmony, probably. And the nonsensical but oh-so-catchy ' A-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh ' haha... great song!
