Red Moon by Geoff Moore and the Distance

This is the first of many Geoff Moore songs on this blog, I like a bunch and I think the majority, if not all of this album are on my playlist. He has some great rock songs as well as a few ballads that are great. I really love the rock songs though, he has some great jams.

This album is listed on the Albums I've Owned page.

Questions rise on an autumn night
As I make my escape from a noisy life
I walk through the park with a world of care
What's gone wrong, how did I get here
Then a whispering wind said lift your eyes
As a scarlet moon hung low in the sky
Truth comes home in the strangest ways
And hope returns like You will some day
I will lift my eyes
Come on lift me higher
Come on lift me higher

Chorus
When I see the red moon rise
When I see the red moon rise
Like a promise You're coming back to these skies
When I see the red moon rise

Crowded streets in a cross_town car
The things of which my mornings are
But my heart is high like the moon last night
And it makes me feel I can win this fight
Oh, my heart is high
Come on take me higher
Come on take me higher

Chorus

Promises here will fade away
Our best intentions be mislaid
But the hope of the cross and the empty grave
Will carry me through until that day

Repeat Chorus

  • This is the 52nd song on this blog.
  • This is the first song by Geoff Moore and the Distance on this blog.
  • This is the second song released in 1989 on this blog.
  • This is the eighth song listed in the Christian genre on this blog.
I noticed we have a new #1 on the popular posts which is the top 5 posts of all-time (page views) on this blog. I don't even remember the Beatles being in the top 5 when I posted yesterday but it might have been there. I do pay attention to that spot on the blog but I don't memorize it or anything. I do like that it's a nice mix of songs. a classic rock, 2 80's songs, a 90's song and even a Christian song has made it up there.

Cryin' by Aerosmith

I loved this album when it came out. I jammed to it for a long time and it really got me back into listening to Aerosmith. I thought the cover was hilarious as well. This was one of the few albums that I liked every song on it. This was back in the day when you had to buy a whole album for a few songs you liked so it was rare when you liked every song.

There was a time
When I was so broken hearted
Love wasn't much of a friend of mine
The tables have turned, yeah
'Cause me and them ways have parted
That kind of love was the killin' kind
Now listen
All I want is someone I can't resist
I know all I need to know by the way that I got kissed

I was cryin' when I met you
Now I'm tryin' to forget you
Love is sweet misery
I was cryin' just to get you
Now I'm dyin' cause I let you
Do what you do - down on me

Now there's not even breathin' room
Between pleasure and pain
Yeah you cry when we're makin' love
Must be one and the same

It's down on me
Yeah I got to tell you one thing
It's been on my mind
Girl I gotta say
We're partners in crime
You got that certain something
What you give to me
Takes my breath away
Now the word out on the street
Is the devil's in your kiss
If our love goes up in flames
It's a fire I can't resist

I was cryin' when I met you
Now I'm tryin' to forget you
Your love is sweet misery
I was cryin' just to get you
Now I'm dyin' cause I let you
Do what you do to me

'Cause what you got inside
Ain't where your love should stay
Yeah, our love, sweet love, ain't love
If you give your heart away

I was cryin' when I met you
Now I'm tryin' to forget you
Your love is sweet misery
I was cryin' just to get you
Now I'm dyin' just to let you
Do what you do what you do down to me,
baby, baby, baby

I was cryin' when I met you
Now I'm tryin' to forget you
Your love is sweet misery
I was cryin' when I met you
Now I'm dyin' cause I let you
Do what you do down to , down to, down to, down to
I was cryin' when I met you
Now I'm dyin' to forget you
Your love is sweet
I was cryin' when I met you
[fade]

I Wear My Sunglasses at Night by Corey Hart

Another staple of the 80's. Corey Hart wasn't quit a one hit wonder as he did well with another song and I believe it is on my playlist as well. He seemed to be a much bigger hit in Canada than he was in the US but that doesn't mean he didn't do well here.

I wear my sunglasses at night
So I can, So I can
Watch you weave then breathe your story lines
And I wear my sunglasses at night
So I can, So I can
Keep track of the visions in my eyes

While, she's deceiving me,
It cuts my security (has)
she got control of me
I turn to her and say

Don't switch the blade on the guy in shades; oh no
Don't masquerade with the guy in shades;
(oh no) (I can't believe it)
You got it made with the guy in shades; oh no

I wear my sunglasses at night
So I can, So I can
Forget my name while you collect your claim
And I wear my sunglasses at night
So I can, So I can
See the light that's right before my eyes

While she's deceiving me,
she cuts my security (has)
She got control of me
I turn to her and say

Don't switch the blade on the guy in shades (oh no)
Don't masquerade with the guy in shades
(oh no) (I can't believe it)
(cuz) You got it made with the guy in shades (oh no)

While she's deceiving me,
she cuts my security (has)
She got control of me
I turn to her and say

Don't switch the blade on the guy in shades (oh no)
Don't masquerade with the guy in shades
(oh no) (I can't believe it)
don't be afraid of the guy in shades
(oh No) (It can't escape you)
(cus) You got it made with the guy in shades (oh no)

I said
I wear my sunglasses at night
I wear my sunglasses at night
I wear my sunglasses at night

I say to ya now
I wear my sunglasses at night
I wear my sunglasses at night
I wear my sunglasses at night

I cry to you
I wear my sunglasses at night
I wear my sunglasses at night

I Want To Hold Your Hand by the Beatles

Oh yeah! Love the Beatles, this definitely won't be the last song you hear by them on this blog. This is, however, the oldest song (so far) on this blog. I hadn't heard a Beatles song in awhile and I believe this was the second one today.

Oh yeah I tell you somethin'
I think you'll understand
When I say that somethin'
I want to hold your hand
I want to hold your hand
I want to hold your hand

Oh please say to me
You'll let me be your man
And please say to me
You'll let me hold your hand
Now, let me hold your hand
I want to hold your hand

And when I touch you
I feel happy inside
It's such a feelin' that my love
I can't hide
I can't hide
I can't hide

Yeah, you got that somethin'
I think you'll understand
When I say that somethin'
I want to hold your hand
I want to hold your hand
I want to hold your hand

And when I touch you
I feel happy inside
It's such a feelin' that my love
I can't hide
I can't hide
I can't hide

Yeah, you got that somethin'
I think you'll understand
When I feel that somethin'
I want to hold your hand
I want to hold your hand
I want to hold your hand
I want to hold your hand

Oh Love by Green Day

Sadly, I didn't get into Green Day until later in life, but I really like a lot of their music now. I do like this song but it's towards the bottom of my Green Day favorites.

Oh Love, oh love
Won't you rain on me tonight?
Oh life, oh life
Please don't pass me by
Don't stop, don't stop
Don't stop when the red lights flash
Oh ride, free ride
Won't you take me close to you

[Chorus]
Far away, far away
Waste away tonight
I'm wearing my heart on a noose

Far away, far away
Waste away tonight
Tonight my heart's on the loose

Oh lights and action
I just can't be satisfied
Oh losers and choosers
Won't you please hold on my life
Oh hours and hours
Like the dog years of the day
Old story, same old story
Won't you see the light of day

[Chorus]
Far away, far away
Waste away tonight
I'm wearing my heart on a noose

Far away, far away
Waste away tonight
Tonight my heart's on the loose

Talk myself out of feeling
Talk my way out of control
Talk myself out of falling in love
Falling in love with you

[Instrumental]

Oh love, oh Love
Won't you rain on me tonight
Oh ride, free ride
Won't you take me close to you

[Chorus]
Far away, far away
Waste away tonight
I'm wearing my heart on a noose

Far away, far away
Waste away tonight
Tonight my heart's on the loose

[Chorus]
Far away, far away
Waste away tonight
I'm wearing my heart on a noose

Far away, far away
Waste away tonight
Tonight my heart's on the loose

Tonight my heart's on the loose...
Tonight my heart's on the loose...

Only Time by Enya

I was pretty sure this was on the radio because I'm not sure where I would have heard it the first time but upon Googling info, according to Wikipedia it became huge in the states after 9/11 happened and some of the news sources were using it as background with images of the attacks and the heroism displayed afterwards. I assume that's when I heard the song but to be honest, I have no idea. I do like it and that's why it's on my playlist.

Who can say where the road goes?
Where the day flows?
Only time
And who can say if your love grows
As your heart chose?
Only time

Who can say why your heart sighs
As your love flies?
Only time
And who can say why your heart cries
When your love lies?
Only time

Who can say when the roads meet
That love might be in your heart?
And who can say when the day sleeps
If the night keeps all your heart,
Night keeps all your heart?

Who can say if your love grows
As your heart chose?
Only time
And who can say where the road goes?
Where the day flows?
Only time

Who knows? Only time [2x]

You would think this was one of the first songs on this blog since it's the first of the artist, released year and genre, but it's the forty-seventh post.

Take On Me by A-Ha

This song and especially the video of this song is the epitome of the 80's. I was singing right along to the chorus, even belted out the high part, mainly because I was alone in the car. I also was jamming out to the synthesizer solo with my hands driving through the neighborhood. I'm pretty positive that this is the only song I have by them. I'm also pretty sure they are considered a one hit wonder which is another reason I only have the one.

We're talking away
I don't know what
I'm to say I'll say it anyway
Today's another day to find you
Shying away
I'll be coming for your love, okay?

Take on me, (take on me)
Take me on, (take on me)
I'll be gone
In a day or two

So needless to say
I'm odds and ends
I'll be stumbling away
Slowly learning that life is OK
Say after me
It's no better to be safe than sorry

Take on me, (take on me)
Take me on, (take on me)
I'll be gone
In a day or two

Oh the things that you say
Is it live or
Just to play my worries away
You're all the things I've got to remember
You're shying away
I'll be coming for you anyway

Take on me, (take on me)
Take me on, (take on me)
I'll be gone
In a day

(Take on me, take on me)
(Take me on, take on me)
I'll be gone (take on me)
In a day

Wait by White Lion

This is another one of those songs that you forget how good it is until you hear it again. Although as I copy the lyrics over, I realize, there really wasn't much lyrics. Just the same thing, over and over, but it's still pretty good. Be forewarned if you watch the video, there is a lot of hair.

Wait, just a moment before our love will die
'Cause I must know the reason why we say goodbye
Wait just a moment and tell me why
'Cause I can show you lovin' that you won't deny

Wait and show your lovin' like it was before
'Cause I won't let that feeli' walk out through the door
I said wait just a moment and try once more
'Cause babe I need to hold you like I did before

So if you go away I know that I will follow
'Cause there's a place inside my heart that tells me
Hold out, hold out, hold out

Wait, wait
I never had a chance to love you
Wait, wait
If only our love could show you
Wait, wait
I never want to be without you
Wait, wait
No I never had a chance to love you
Now I only want to say I love you one more time

  • This is the first song by White Lion on this blog.
  • This is the fourth song released in 1987 on this blog.
  • This is the ninth song listed in the 80's genre on this blog.
I moved the Spotify playlist link over to the sidebar instead of listing it on every post. Makes more sense, less work for me anyways.

I want to do more top 10 lists or something like that because even though I have "Our CD," "My Top 10 Songs," and "Top 10 Jams," I have yet to come across a song that's even listed on any of those 3. Problem is, those lists take some time to do and I'm lazy, so we'll see if anything else happens.

Circle Slide by the Choir

Our first 2 time artist post. Even from the same album. I mentioned before that I loved this album so it's only fitting that this is the first duplicate artist.

Imagine one perfect circle
Above the stratosphere
Where lovers hide away
And children cheer
Because the ground has melted
Where the devil stood
Never mind the carnival
In your own neighborhood

CHORUS
Come on let’s ride
The circle slide
Come on let’s ride, ride
The circle slide

Around my neck against my heart
I wear a wooden cross
And sometimes I remember
What freedom cost
Shake off your golden shackles
Children of time no more
Consider now the crimson crown
The Man of Sorrows wore

CHORUS

I know it’s hard to imagine
When someone makes you cry
Fire in the heavens
And laughter in the sky
Just let the wind blow through your spirit
Let the sun shine on your face
Let’s look into each other’s eyes
And sing Amazing Grace

CHORUS

  • This is the second song released in 1990 on this blog.
  • This is the seventh song listed in the Christian genre on this blog.
  • This album is already listed on the Albums I've Owned page.
  • I went ahead and got rid of the before and after songs because my phone just isn't cooperating. The next song has been wrong the last few days anyways and the only reason I know that is because of that section. So it's gone.
  • I guess I can't complain that it took 44 posts before I used an artist that I had already used. Believe me though, the Spotify random isn't that good. I hear songs all the time that I've heard recently and considering I have over 2000 songs on the playlist.

Chop Suey by System of A Down

Previous Song - ?
Next Song - I Can Only Imagine by MercyMe

A lot of people don't like this song, I do, it grew on me. I like the chorus or the singing part in it. I know my wife can't stand it and neither can my oldest son, and he even likes rock music. I guess technically this would be more Metal or Hard Rock but I prefer to keep the genre's more general. There are other System of A Down songs on my playlist but I don't think it's a bunch.

Wake up
Grab a brush and put a little (makeup)
Grab a brush and put a little
Hide the scars to fade away the (shakeup)
Hide the scars to fade away the
Why'd you leave the keys upon the table?
Here you go create another fable
You wanted to
Grab a brush and put a little makeup
You wanted to
Hide the scars to fade away the shakeup
You wanted to
Why'd you leave the keys upon the table?
You wanted to

I don't think you trust
In, my, self righteous suicide
I, cry, when angels deserve to die, DIE

Wake up
Grab a brush and put a little (makeup)
Grab a brush and put a little
Hide the scars to fade away the (shakeup)
Hide the scars to fade away the
Why'd you leave the keys upon the table?
Here you go create another fable
You wanted to
Grab a brush and put a little makeup
You wanted to
Hide the scars to fade away the shakeup
You wanted to
Why'd you leave the keys upon the table?
You wanted to

I don't think you trust
In, my, self righteous suicide
I, cry, when angels deserve to die
In, my, self righteous suicide
I, cry, when angels deserve to die

Father, father, father, father
Father into your hands, I commend my spirit
Father into your hands
why have you forsaken me
In your eyes forsaken me
In your thoughts forsaken me
In your heart forsaken, me oh
Trust in my self righteous suicide
I, cry, when angels deserve to die
In my self righteous suicide
I, cry, when angels deserve to die

  • Apparently when I shut the music off on my phone, I need to make a note somewhere because I used to be able to swipe left and it would show the previous song but lately, it won't go back. I actually finished Chop Suey so it was sitting on I Can Only Imagine and it wouldn't swipe back to Chop Suey, let alone the previous song. I tried to remember but since I'm posting this 5 hours after I listened to it, I don't remember.

You May Be Right by Billy Joel

Previous Song - 50 Ways to Say Goodbye by Train
Next Song - Strong Enough by Sheryl Crow

I have a bunch of Billy Joel on this playlist, why wouldn't he. He put out tons of hits in the 80's and that doesn't include what he put out in the 70's and 90's.

Friday night I crashed your party
Saturday I said I'm sorry
Sunday came and trashed me out again
I was only having fun
Wasn't hurting any one
And we all enjoyed the weekend for a change

I've been stranded in the combat zone
I walked through Bedford Stuy alone
Even rode my motorcycle in the rain
And you told me not to drive
But I made it home alive
So you said that only proves that I'm insane

You may be right
I may be crazy
But it just may be a lunatic you're looking for
Turn out the light
Don't try to save me
You may be wrong for all I know
But you may be right

Remember how I found you there
Alone in your electric chair
I told you dirty jokes until you smiled
You were lonely for a man
I said take me as I am
'Cause you might enjoy some madness for a while

Now think of all the years you tried to
Find someone to satisfy you
I might be as crazy as you say
If I'm crazy then it's true
That it's all because of you
And you wouldn't want me any other way

You may be right
I may be crazy
But it just may be a lunatic you're looking for
It's too late to fight
It's too late to change me
You may be wrong for all I know
But you may be right

You may be right
I may be crazy
But it just may be a lunatic you're looking for
Turn out the light
Don't try to save me
You may be wrong for all I know
You may be right
You may be wrong but you may be right
You may be wrong but you may be right
You may be wrong but you may be right
You may be wrong but you may be right
You may be wrong but you may be right
You may be wrong but you may be right
You may be wrong but you may be right
You may be wrong but you may be right
You may be wrong but you may be right

I Just Called To Say I Love You by Stevie Wonder

Previous Song - Left Hand Free by Alt-J
Next Song - Mudshovel by Staind

You do it, I do it, we all do it. What is it? Sway your head back and forth as you sing along to Stevie Wonder. Ok, maybe you don't but I do. You can't even say the name of this song without singing it. There is definitely more Stevie Wonder on this playlist so you don't have to worry about that.

No New Year's Day to celebrate
No chocolate covered candy hearts to give away
No first of spring
No song to sing
In fact here's just another ordinary day

No April rain
No flowers bloom
No wedding Saturday within the month of June
But what it is, is something true
Made up of these three words that I must say to you

I just called to say I love you
I just called to say how much I care
I just called to say I love you
And I mean it from the bottom of my heart

No summer's high
No warm July
No harvest moon to light one tender August night
No autumn breeze
No falling leaves
Not even time for birds to fly to southern skies

No Libra sun
No Halloween
No giving thanks to all the Christmas joy you bring
But what it is, though old so new
To fill your heart like no three words could ever do

I just called to say I love you
I just called to say how much I care, I do
I just called to say I love you
And I mean it from the bottom of my heart

I just called to say I love you
I just called to say how much I care, I do
I just called to say I love you
And I mean it from the bottom of my heart, of my heart,
of my heart

I just called to say I love you
I just called to say how much I care, I do
I just called to say I love you
And I mean it from the bottom of my heart, of my heart,
baby of my heart

It's All Coming Back To Me Now by Meat Loaf

Previous Song - My Generation by Limp Bizkit
Next Song - All 4 Love by Colour Me Badd

I'll be honest, I was surprised that this song was from 2006. I guess I was just thinking most of his songs that I know are older. The song itself I remember being from later but I think it's more because it was Meat Loaf that I thought it was older but upon Googling the song, I realized why I didn't realize it was Meat Loaf, because it was originally a Celine Dion song. Now I feel like an idiot. I guess I know why the song didn't sound quite right.

[Boy:] There were nights when the wind was so cold
That my body froze in bed if I just listened to it right outside the window
[Girl:] There were days when the sun was so cruel
That all the tears turned to dust and I just knew my eyes were drying up forever

[Both:]
I finished crying in the instant that you left
And I can't remember where or when or how
And I banished every memory you and I have ever made

[Boy:]
But when you touch me like this (touch me like this)
And you hold me like that (hold me like that)
I just have to admit that it's all coming back to me
When I touch you like this (touch you like this)
And I hold you like that (hold you like that)
It's so hard to believe but it's all coming back to me now

[Girl:]
It's all coming back
It's all coming back to me now

[Boy:]
There were moments of gold and there were flashes of light
There were things I'd never do again but then they'd always seemed right
There were nights of endless pleasure
It was more than any laws allow-baby, baby!

If I kiss you like this (kiss you like this)
And if you whisper like that (whisper like that)
It was lost long ago but it's all coming back to me

If you want me like this (if you want me like this)
And if you need me like that (if you need me like that)
It was dead long ago but it's all coming back to me

It's so hard to resist and it's all coming back to me
I can barely recall, but it's all coming back to me now....

But you were history with the slamming of the door
And I made myself so strong again somehow
And I never wasted any of my time on you since then!

But if I touch you like this (touch you like this)
And if you kiss me like that (kiss me like that)
It was so long ago but it's all coming back to me
If you touch me like this (touch me like this)
And if I kiss you like that (kiss you like that)
It was gone with the wind but it's all coming back to me now

[Girl:]
It's all coming back
It's all coming back to me now

[Boy:]
There were moments of gold and there were flashes of light
There were things we'd never do again but they'd always seemed right
There were nights of endless pleasure
It was more than all your laws allow-baby, baby, baby!

When you touch me like this (touch me like this)
And when you hold me like that (hold me like that)
It was gone with the wind but it's all coming back to me

When you see me like this (see me like this)
And when I see you like that (see you like that)
Then we see what we want to see-all coming back to me

The flesh and the fantasies-all coming back to me
I can barley recall, but it's all coming back to me now....

If you forgive me all this (forgive me all this)
If I forgive you all that (forgive you all that)
We forgive and forget and it's all coming back to me now

[Girl:] It's all coming back to me now
[Boy:] We forgive and forget
[Both:] And it's all coming back to me now....
