Red Moon by Geoff Moore and the Distance

This is the first of many Geoff Moore songs on this blog, I like a bunch and I think the majority, if not all of this album are on my playlist. He has some great rock songs as well as a few ballads that are great. I really love the rock songs though, he has some great jams.

This album is listed on the Albums I've Owned page.

Questions rise on an autumn night
As I make my escape from a noisy life
I walk through the park with a world of care
What's gone wrong, how did I get here
Then a whispering wind said lift your eyes
As a scarlet moon hung low in the sky
Truth comes home in the strangest ways
And hope returns like You will some day
I will lift my eyes
Come on lift me higher
Come on lift me higher

Chorus
When I see the red moon rise
When I see the red moon rise
Like a promise You're coming back to these skies
When I see the red moon rise

Crowded streets in a cross_town car
The things of which my mornings are
But my heart is high like the moon last night
And it makes me feel I can win this fight
Oh, my heart is high
Come on take me higher
Come on take me higher

Chorus

Promises here will fade away
Our best intentions be mislaid
But the hope of the cross and the empty grave
Will carry me through until that day

Repeat Chorus

  • This is the 52nd song on this blog.
  • This is the first song by Geoff Moore and the Distance on this blog.
  • This is the second song released in 1989 on this blog.
  • This is the eighth song listed in the Christian genre on this blog.
I noticed we have a new #1 on the popular posts which is the top 5 posts of all-time (page views) on this blog. I don't even remember the Beatles being in the top 5 when I posted yesterday but it might have been there. I do pay attention to that spot on the blog but I don't memorize it or anything. I do like that it's a nice mix of songs. a classic rock, 2 80's songs, a 90's song and even a Christian song has made it up there.
